About

Since my childhood in Alaska, music has been at the core of my being. I grew up singing and playing violin, guitar, and piano, and began songwriting at a very early age. I was involved with several stage productions in my youth, and went on to study opera, choral music, music history, music theory and ensemble direction in college. I wrote a handful of classical compositions in my early twenties, but I was much more focused on a career in rock and roll at that time in my life. After nearly 20 years in both the San Francisco and Los Angeles music scenes, I stepped away from performance and channeled my efforts into songwriting and classical composition. In my first year, I composed a piano sonata, a piano concerto, a cello concerto, and a symphony, as well as about an hour of music for an opera, a few piano driven rock songs, and some other shorter works. The writing continues every day. My approach is simply to write pieces that I’d like to hear, and I hope you enjoy them as well.
